About Me
My name is Mirjam van Haag, born on April 2, 1976, in Kerkdriel. After spending some time away from my hometown, I returned in 2022. The experiences I've gone through over the years have shaped me into the person I am today: a conscious woman with a unique perspective on life. This viewpoint is clearly reflected in my art.
Using my creative talents and AI, I strive to find the deepest fulfillment in everything I do. For me, art is a way to make the most of life and to share my feelings in a deeper, symbolic way with the world.
My Burnout
A burnout turned my life upside down. It forced me to rethink my life and how I wanted to move forward.
This was, and sometimes still is, a difficult journey.
Like many profound experiences, I now see my life as divided into "before" and "after" my burnout.
Through this experience, I discovered that I am highly sensitive, which meant I had to learn to manage the energy and influences of others. I learned to say 'no' and to set my own boundaries, something I used to find very challenging. This has helped me protect myself and stay true to who I really am.
Today, I no longer wear a mask. I am who I am, with both my vulnerabilities and my strengths.

My work
Pillangó| 2006 - Present
In 2006, I started Pillangó as a creative outlet to give my grief a place after the stillbirth of my son, Mike.
The name "Pillangó," which means butterfly, symbolizes transformation, impermanence, and the process of letting go. Through my art, I found ways to process my emotions and offer comfort to others who were going through similar experiences.
In my studio, I created paintings, sculptures, hand-bound books, and comfort gifts. Each piece was a reflection of love, loss, and hope, with the aim of supporting people during difficult times.
Since 2024, I have taken a new creative path: AI has now become my primary outlet. Through AI-generated art, I can express my creativity in a deeper, more innovative way. Using this technology, I shape emotions and stories that offer comfort and resonate with viewers on a symbolic and powerful level.
Additionally, I am working on a fantasy book for young adults, which I am co-writing with my sister. Together, we are creating a world full of magic and adventure.
